On November 29th we welcomed etiquette and communications expert, Cynthia Pace, founder of Politesse Par Cynthia to host a workshop titled “Tips and Tricks for Holiday Networking.” Organized by Jennie Biltek, the workshop was highly anticipated and had over 30 women from our Career Centre in attendance.
At the beginning of the evening, participants had the opportunity to mingle and meet new people. Women broke the ice by sharing the holidays celebrated in their home country, and their favourite holiday traditions.
To start the workshop, Cynthia provided tips on networking etiquette, dinning etiquette, and the etiquette of making a toast. Cynthia highlighted the importance of always having business cards when attending a networking event, and shared the appropriate way to exchange business cards. On the topic of dinning etiquette, participants were shown where cutlery, napkins and glassware should be placed when setting a table, and how various utensils should be used in a formal dinner setting. Finally, Cynthia demonstrated the polite way to make a toast.
To conclude the workshop, Dress for Success volunteer, Jo-Ann Khounviseth, presented three business attire looks on DFSV clients. Jo-Ann then demonstrated simple changes that would transform the business outfits into holiday party looks. Cost-effective ideas included adding accessories like sparkly jewelry, bright clutches, belts, and scarves for an instant transformation.
Thank you to Jennie for organizing the event, and thank you to all that took part.
