Eva’s Story

When I came to Canada with my husband 20 years ago, I was hoping for a better life for us.  And, for a while, it was.  My son was born in Canada, but my husband just couldn’t adapt to life here.  He became depressed, gave up and moved back to China.  That meant I was a single mother, receiving no financial support to help raise my son.

Geraldine’s Story

HOPE.  This four-letter word is so meaningful to me and has become the guiding principle in my life.  All of the sad and painful circumstances that I experienced have not stopped me from dreaming and hoping for a better life—for myself and for my son.

Marysol’s Story

Like many of our volunteers, Marysol came to Dress for Success Vancouver with a passion for helping women through style and a desire to give back. Marysol was able to do this with Dress for Success Vancouver, but instead of just giving back she was inspired by the women she worked with. Recently, Marysol found herself in an employment transition and used Dress for Success Vancouver’s Career Center to help define her own career path. Here’s Marysol’s Story:

Helen’s Story

Helen is a newcomer from Vietnam. She came to Canada a year ago after 17 years in the banking industry in her home country. She is seeking to make a better life for herself and her family in her new country but, just as she was ready to enter the job market, the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Anita’s Story

By telling my story, I really want to connect, inspire and give hope to other women. I have so much gratitude for all that I have received in my life because there is learning in every experience and it has shaped the woman I am today.

Connection, Community and Confidence through Dress for Success Vancouver

Dress for Success Vancouver gives women much more than professional attire – it connects us to our community, and it makes a positive impact on all their clients and PWG members – we feel heard, empowered and with enhanced self-esteem. I am and will always be grateful and proud to be part of the Dress for Success Vancouver community.

Katrina’s Journey to Impact

“For me, the greatest thing about the group is the personal and emotional support that it offers to allow an individual be the best that she can be,” shares client Katrina Macadaeg, when speaking of her experience with the Professional Women’s Group and Dress for Success Vancouver.
Katrina was introduced to the Professional Women’s Group (PWG) when she was a new immigrant, in between jobs with no personal or professional network.

Meet Serena Cripps, a Professional Women’s Group graduate and recipient of the Dress for Success Vancouver inaugural Inspiration Award. Brenda Bissonette

The enthusiasm bubbles out of Brenda. She is a lively woman who has become an ardent supporter of Dress for Success and its programs that help women to open doors. “Dress for Success has given me a sense of belonging, of being part of a team. I’ve met so many really nice women that it’s become kind of like an extended family”, Brenda explains.

Fiona Hogg

Each day is a new challenge. Vancouver has been all about change for me. These changes continue, and the evolution is so satisfying.
