I first heard about Dress for Success Vancouver through the MOSAIC I Belong Program. I was later invited by Suzy, my support worker, to attend the Dress for Success Vancouver Trans & Gender-Diverse Special Suiting event for Trans Day of Visibility.
It was a very new and special experience for me. It was my first time joining a group suiting event and celebrating Trans Day of Visibility together with other trans community members. I felt welcomed, supported, and comfortable. I received makeup tips and a beautiful outfit that made me feel happy and confident.
Dress for Success Vancouver created a safe and respectful space where I truly felt seen and valued. I benefited a lot from the experience and gained more self-confidence. It was a wonderful day because of the kindness and support from everyone involved.
One of the most memorable moments for me was the photography, dancing, makeup, and taking group photos together. It felt beautiful to celebrate together as a community and feel respected, visible, and supported by the team.
I would like other newcomers in the trans and gender-diverse community to know that they should believe in themselves, love themselves as they are, and not feel alone. I hope Dress for Success Vancouver continues to create more beautiful stories, activities, and safe spaces where we can come together with love and support.
